Description: This area considers production systems in their broadest sense, encompassing both goods and services production. The focus of this study area is to develop technical solutions aimed at achieving competitive and sustainable production systems, where attributes such as time, cost, flexibility, environment, and quality are critical. The main objective is to evaluate production systems, identify problems related to competitiveness attributes, and seek opportunities for improvement through the application of quantitative and computational methodologies, models, and techniques.
Research Lines
Name: Decision Support Systems
Description: This research line aims to contextualize, identify, and measure the causes of performance issues in typical functions of a production system, with the goal of constructing realistic and functional solutions. Studies and applications of quantitative methods in production systems are developed within this research line, focusing especially on mathematical programming, probabilistic systems, decision theory, multicriteria decision-making, and statistical methods. These are directed toward enhancing the competitiveness of these systems, addressing their management and quality.
