INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS OF UFF
The Graduate Program in Production Engineering(PPGEP) seeks to expand its relationships with foreign institutions in order to establish specific partnerships for the mobility of students and faculty members within the program. Partnerships with universities in Austria and France have been established through the initiative of EEIMVR.
The Office of International Relations (SRI-UFF) at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) is responsible for the university’s internationalization policy and academic mobility. Thus, faculty and students of the PPGEP can, through SRI, identify partner institutions that have agreements with UFF for international interaction. For further information regarding SRI, click here.

INTERNATIONALIZATION SUPPORT PROGRAM
There are several funding programs for the participation of students and faculty in international activities. Annually, CNPQ, CAPES, and FAPERJ offer calls for internationalization, in which participation from program members is strongly encouraged.
Additionally, there are other international institutions that offer opportunities for internationalization in the research field. We recommend that both students and faculty remain attentive to these internationalization opportunities. Below is a list of some of the main institutions that provide support for studying abroad:
- Fulbright Program – Offers scholarships and educational exchange programs in various countries, supporting students, researchers, and professors.
- DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) – The German Academic Exchange Service offers scholarships and research programs for foreign students and academics in Germany.
- European Research Council (ERC) – Funds excellence in research across Europe, supporting scientists and scholars in various fields.
- National Science Foundation (NSF) – Funds research in science and engineering in the United States.
- Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) – Offers research scholarships and exchange programs in Japan.
- Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) – Funds research and research infrastructure in Canada.
- Australian Research Council (ARC) – Funds research and academic projects in Australia.
- Wellcome Trust – Funds biomedical and global health research worldwide.
- Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation – Funds projects in health, education, and global development.
- Ford Foundation – Supports research and programs in areas such as social justice, gender equality, and sustainable development.
- Newton Fund – Funds joint research projects and mobility programs for researchers, aiming to address global challenges such as health, climate change, food security, urbanization, and sustainable development.
INTERACTION OF FACULTY AND STUDENTS IN INTERNATIONAL CONTEXTS
In 2018, three students enrolled in the PPGEP participated in academic activities related to their research at the University of A Coruña, Spain.
The students spent six months in Spain, attending courses and developing their dissertations. This activity was made possible through an agreement between the University of A Coruña and the PPGEP.
It is important to highlight the participation of foreign faculty in the defense committees for master’s theses, which are being conducted in English, thereby allowing for the expansion and sharing of knowledge generated within the scope of PPGEP.
Additionally, faculty and students have participated in international conferences to present the results of their research linked to PPGEP.
